“Everybody wants to rule the world.” No, everyone wants to be a tastemaker. Now, The Daily Beast is joining the ranks of the VSL, Daily Candy, Thrillist and whatnot with its own newsletter.
The problem is that the missive I got was sent on a Friday at 7PM and talking about an indie movie that has been about for weeks-”500 Days of Summer”.

Reading Paid Content’s article about the partnership between Elle and Rue La La made me wonder if other magazines would seek out similar agreements with blogs or email newsletters.

What about the these pairings?

The Gilt Groupe and Vogue

She Finds and Lucky

Afrobella and Essence

The Budget Fashionista and  Marie Claire

or 55 Secret Street and Allure.

Consider this analogy:
Media websites are like Jans to Marcias who have gossip sites. Now the focus is more on the journalist (blogger) than who, what, when, where, why and how is covered.

Welcome Mediaite which launched today. It is being called “Huffington Post Meets Gawker”, but I think is more “Fishbowl Meets Fame Game” with its media ranking system. There is an algorithm that calculates buzz for the media elite includes twitter, so it is further validating twitter’s emergence as a force.

Muckrack is a very useful aggregate of the twitter feeds if most of the journalists on twitter. It would be interesting to see if Mediaite would add a similar feature. Speaking of  things that start with the letter, “M”, does anyone go to Michael’s for lunch any more?!
